I was doing a bird survey this morning and came across a pair of goannas in a tree. Obviously spring is in the air! The larger of the two would have been close to 2m long. The other small one was a bit wary and spiralled into a hollow.
A bit of an aside from my usual sewing post. The gliding world championships were held in the area of the last few weeks. It has been amazing as quite often the course has them do a tight turn near us. All I had to do was sit under the veranda to watch 100 or so gliders fly past. Tough hey?
One the last day there were a couple of gaggles forming which were interesting to watch. A couple of the gliders also had con-trails, one was really spectacular.
Here are a few photos ( click on the image to enlarge them). Continue reading “Gliding World Championships from my backyard”
